Shoot for the Moon!

I was outside looking at the full moon one night, marveling at how much light it was giving off and how truly beautiful it was.  It reminded me how beautiful a dream can be when it’s first thought of and how that the light it can give when its new is nothing compared to the light it reflects when it’s reached full completion.

My art teacher used to tell me to “dream big.”

My mom used to tell me to “be practical.”

My dad used to say “just do what you can do and go from there.”

Where would we be if we didn’t have the “big” dreamers in the world?  Dreamers like Walk Disney who changed the face of imagination opened the mind to so many new possibilities, or Steve Jobs who wanted to “put a ding in the universe,” and succeeded!

Look at Thomas Edison, one of the greatest inventors in American History, to him failure was simply finding out the things that wouldn’t work and going on from there.  One of my favorite quotes is: “Hell, there are no rules here – we’re trying to accomplish something” – Thomas Edison.

So when it comes to dreaming, shoot for the moon!  Dream big!  Don’t give up or give in because of set-backs, obstacles, or even failures along the way.  Believe in the dream, note what doesn’t work and keep reaching for your goals anyway, the end result will be well worth the effort if you see it all the way through.

So many of life’s true failures are made when people give up their dream never really realizing how close they were to success when they gave up.

Life is a gift, not to be wasted or taken for granted. I believe life is a journey, that we are put here for a purpose that each of us has to discover within ourselves. Each day we are given is a new opportunity to seize the moments, the experiences that make up our individual journey. I have seen my share of storms along the way, but have learned that with faith and good friends, there is nothing that you can’t face, learn from, and come out growing stronger from the experience. I have many interests, hobbies and passions. Writing, art, and expanding my knowledge about why people believe what they do, including studying different religions and cultures, becoming a Life Coach, practicing Reiki, and spending time with my girls, are some of my passions. Interests include: studying history, science, physics, walking/running, learning yoga, Pilates, trying new recipes, finding new and interesting places to visit, spending time with friends, learning new ways of doing things, guitar, piano, writing songs, photography, and painting and so much more than I could name here. I enjoy meeting new people, trading stories, ideas and sharing experiences. I love going to plays and concerts, and encouraging others to be their best while finding myself along the way. 1. I love the moon … a reminder of hope when all else seems dark. Absolutely dream big! What sort of world would we be living in without dreamers. Thankyou :)

  2. The only thing that Thomas Edison actually invented was the current spelling of “hello”. Everything else he “borrowed” from other people. Tesla invented alternating current, and who got the credit for it?
He brought nothing to the world of science, but he was a very good businessman and managed to get rich on other people’s ideas.
I also happen to disagree with you about Disney, but that’s for another time.

    • Hmm…well, every creative person knows in their heart they are not the first one to think of an idea, or dream. In fact, creativity is often born out of other creativity, one idea gives birth to another. The difference is made with the person that is willing to go the extra mile because they believe in the idea. They take it and make it their own and run with it and often wind up changing the world because of it. I’ve had plenty of idea’s I thought of, drew up, or wrote out only to find a version of whatever it was a few months later. :)

  3. If you are ever outside or near a window where the moon is shining brightly. Simply raise both hands outstretched in prayer, and catch the moonbeams in your hands. Such an extraordinary connection to nature, and the creator whom I call God!
