Unconditional Love – What an Example!

One of the best examples that we have of unconditional love is found in our four-legged friends.

A dog will love you and celebrate you being back with them whether you’ve been gone 5 minutes or 5 days.  It’s all irrelevant because the only thing they care about is NOW and that you are there for them to see, love on, play with, and entertain.

In that sense, they are also a great reminder of how to live in the moment.  A dog isn’t thinking about how you didn’t keep a promise 5 minutes ago or fifteen years ago.  A dog isn’t going to stop and debate whether you should have to work to earn his trust back or whether you need to do other things to win his favor.

For that matter, a dog isn’t going to try to convince you that you should act this way or that way in order to be accepted or allowed to hang out with them.  A dog just doesn’t let all of that interfere with the most important thing, which is to live in the moment, and enjoy every second with you.

When you think about TRUE unconditional love it puts a whole new perspective on things doesn’t it?  Of course, we as humans cannot live with this kind of unconditional love.  We have to have limits and boundaries in order to stay healthy, happy and to help others understand what is acceptable behavior.

Still, what a cute little four-legged reminder of how to live in the moment, accept what is in front of us, and celebrate life.

About www.spilledcookies.com

Life is a gift, not to be wasted or taken for granted. I believe life is a journey, that we are put here for a purpose that each of us has to discover within ourselves. Each day we are given is a new opportunity to seize the moments, the experiences that make up our individual journey. I have seen my share of storms along the way, but have learned that with faith and good friends, there is nothing that you can’t face, learn from, and come out growing stronger from the experience. I have many interests, hobbies and passions. Writing, art, and expanding my knowledge about why people believe what they do, including studying different religions and cultures, becoming a Life Coach, practicing Reiki, and spending time with my girls, are some of my passions. Interests include: studying history, science, physics, walking/running, learning yoga, Pilates, trying new recipes, finding new and interesting places to visit, spending time with friends, learning new ways of doing things, guitar, piano, writing songs, photography, and painting and so much more than I could name here. I enjoy meeting new people, trading stories, ideas and sharing experiences. I love going to plays and concerts, and encouraging others to be their best while finding myself along the way. 1. so very true. therapy even uses dogs in elderly facilities for comfort, lowering of blood pressure, and a more calm mind.

  2. I totally agree– my dog has shown me perhaps the purest, unencumbered love I have ever experienced. Its been an intense and wonderful journey with him so far…
